THIS ONE’S FOR THE LADIES

THIS ONE’S FOR THE GALS

So you’re off to a good start to the year, but you’re already craving some vacation time, perhaps somewhere a little warmer (especially if you’re in the US right now)? How about some good time off with the girls? Coastal Living put together few options to consider for that weekend getaway: “This is reason enough to champion a girls’ trip — a special sojourn away from the routine of daily life to just have fun with the humans who make you laugh that ugly laugh only a small portion of people who know you have seen.” Can I come?

I A-GREECE

Don’t know what it is about this place, but, at least for me, if I had to describe a perfect holiday with the family, it’s the closest I could get: beach, food, people, culture, history, weather, adventure, cost. Need I say more? And if you’ve been there before, there are still so many hidden gems to learn more about! Like this part of Greece written about on CNN: “Characterized as the Greek Amalfi Coast, though with its own allure, this endless coastline dotted with seaside villages, dreamy beaches, mountain villages, archaeological sites and amazing landscapes is still widely undiscovered.” Come meet me there this summer! I’ll be there…on an island. Don’t worry, you’ll find me. Only 6,000 of them to go through!

ARTABIAN NIGHTS

I grew up in this country, the son of an expat. And, it was one of the best childhoods a kid could have asked for. But, at the end of the day, it’s still…Saudi Arabia! Never in all my years would I have imagined I’d one day be writing about its burgeoning arts scene, especially in Riyadh. Lonely Planet has it covered: “In Saudi Arabia’s capital city, the art scene is buzzing with a swell of local artists anxious to showcase their talents to a growing admiring public clamouring for more. With a limited number of galleries, taking in the best of Riyadh’s art and culture requires minimal time but yields a substantial reward.”

WATERWERKS

“While some prefer to call the reservoir by its elegant name ‘Pool of Arches,’ it’s also goes by the name ‘Pool of Goats’ in Arabic because of the animals that used to drink from the cistern. Although the pool dates back over 1,000 years, it was only recently discovered and excavated by the Israel Antiquities Authorities.” How fun does this place sound? What a feeling to be rowing in a reservoir so old.

If you’re more of a below the water kind of person, this new invention allows you to go camping underwater (I think his sounds even cooler). Scientists have come up with a device, not so heavy that you can blow up under the water and actually stay in without using air tanks. Right now it’s just for a few hours, but, I bet we’ll be able to spend the night underwater in this device some time soon. Finally, a peaceful night’s sleep, if you ignore the sharks!

YOU = 1, JETLAG = 0

Feels like we’re constantly bombarded with tools to help us plan our travels better. Luxury Travel Diary shares more about a new: “Sophisticated tool and analysis which enables you to travel the world in style at a massive discount. This tool will also help you do mileage runs and monitor fares for wherever you fly from and to.” May be worth a try.
